The Thomson redesign was a massive undertaking. With their wealth of well-known products and resources, we had our work cut out for us in rethinking the information architecture, taxonomy and design. All in all the project took us over a year. Then about eight weeks before launch, Thomson acquired Reuters.
The client was happy with the look I created for the initial Thomson redesign, so they asked me to take on a second redesign to incorporate the new brand. Since the launch date was not flexible (doh!) I was given the challenge of integrating the new look into the already-coded templates of the original redesign, and since I only had about two weeks to do so, I had to get it right the first time. Thankfully, I pulled it off, and the site went live on schedule with its sleek new look courtesy of a relatively simple CSS swap.
